  Commercialization and Rise of a phase-III Venusian Colony Now, how exactly are we to give rise to a phase-III Venusian colony? Well, for a colony to be self-sufficient it must be self sufficient via exports to the Earth. We’ve achieved the self-sufficiency part, now we have to work on the export of material back to the Earth. But, interplanetary trade is impractically expensive; the interplanetary ocean that divides Venus from Earth, where even when the launch window opens at low tide, the distances are simply just too large for practical trade.
